“Teaching people to dive is really rewarding and life as a scuba diving instructor is a fun and exciting lifestyle with endless opportunities for travel, exploration and new challenges.”

A PADI Scuba Diving Instructor represents a global organization made up of the world’s industry leaders maintaining the standard that has become the template for any modern day scuba diving educational activity. Another great advantage is that Holly has worked in a variety of scuba diving related roles in a multitude of worldwide destinations and is therefore perfectly positioned to provide advice and support to candidates looking for their first appointment within the industry.
One of the most important factors when choosing the destination for your professional instructor level training is the experience of the PADI Course Director. Holly has trained hundreds of scuba diving instructors and knows exactly what is required to pass the PADI Instructor Examination and to develop a successful career within the diving industry

The Gili Islands also offers new instructors the opportunity to immediately find jobs and begin their new careers. The Gili Islands is become a more popular destination for both domestic and foreign tourists and is therefore growing year upon year. The growth of tourism numbers also makes way for a growing number of new and student divers and therefor the requirement for new scuba diving instructors.

The program is made of two distinct parts; the PADI IDC Preparation workshops and the actual PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) The Instructor Preparation Workshops generally prepares diving professionals for the PADI IDC Course and reviews the knowledge and skill learnt during the PADI Divemaster Course allowing candidates to make a smooth and easy transition on the courses. The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) concentrates on the personal development of dive professionals and providing them with the necessary tools to be successful within the diving industry.

Three simple steps to a successful career with the PADI IDC Indonesia in the Gili Islands

The PADI IDC Instructor Development Course with Multi Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod provides all of the necessary ammunition to be a highly successfully scuba diving instructor. To be successful and gain top results during the program candidates need to adopt a simple strategy.
Look, Listen and Act

The Looking
During the Gili Islands PADI Instructor Development Program (IDC) workshops candidates will be exposed to a range of teaching techniques including control, management and organizational methods and it’s important to take note to allow candidates to gain additional marks in the Instructor Examination for delivery and control during their personal training presentations. This can also be adopted into their new career as scuba diving instructors and allow candidates to make a smooth transition into the industry with the confidence to succeed. It is also great to view the feedback received by others during the program, including mistakes, advice, improvements and attributes gained during previous Divemaster careers.
There are also many additional workshops added to the program by Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod, which are not directly assessed within the PADI Examination but certainly help when embarking on a new career within the diving industry and actually conducting the range of PADI programs.
So during the PADI Instructor Development Course it is important to observe all components of the course to pick up a wide teaching repertoire giving new instructors the tools to succeed in their new career.

The Listening
During the PADI Instructor Development Program it is also very important to listen. Holly delivers a range of presentations during her PADI IDC program and after certifying hundreds of instructor in 2015 alone knows exactly what is important for new instructors to know including points that may come up in the exam but also information that is required by today’s diving industry.

During the program Holly runs a range of dry workshops on conduct, delivery and student control and during these workshops she highlights the importance of effectively delivering core course components including in-depth methods of organization. Also how to position students for effective demonstrations in a way that students can first of all see what happening but can adequately demonstrate the skills back to you effectively and easily with minimum disruption to the organization; for example how to effectively move a student easily and quickly during a buddy skill without disrupting the organization and allow them to gain maximum experience. For alternate air sharing skills you will need to know how to rotate students to all have play the role of both air source donor and receiver. Where to position yourself and your certified assistant in relation to particular moving skills for example compass and swimming skills using the certified assistant for control and safety whilst positioning yourself in a position for skill evaluation. As well as gaining extra points during the Instructor Examination candidates will also get an insight on how to conduct programs more effectively in a safe and controlled manner.

Classroom presentations include a range of topics designed to provide candidates with the knowledge to succeed and progress within the industry. PADI Standards and Procedures is a classic example as candidates will learn all of the most important standards related to training which is important for the Instructor Examination and general teaching, but will also learn how to easily and effectively use the PADI Instructor Manual and Guide to Teaching so as they are able to keep up to date in the future and easily find and administer the required standard for any particular situation.
The Acting
Once candidates have observed how to conduct the PADI training activities and have listened to feedback and teaching tips during classroom sessions and workshops it’s time to combine this knowledge and put it into action. These two aspect of the training program offer candidates the chance to put it all together and add aspects of their own personality and experience of the dive industry to create a fantastic training experience to future students highlighting the pure fundamental intention of the program; to develop dive professionals.
During the program candidates are highly encouraged to develop their own personal teaching style allowing them to develop a very natural approach to the teaching environment; the best possible start to a career within the industry and preparing candidates to be ready to conduct their own training activities in a safe and controlled manner.
The Program designed by Multi Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod and has been developed is such a way as to allow candidates to get an educational experience that far exceeds that generally found within the recreational diving industry. The program is essentially split into two parts; a 4 day pre-IDC preparation program and the 12 day PADI Instructor Development Course.
The Pre-IDC preparation workshops are fundamentally designed to review, refine and develop the skills and knowledge required of certified professional Divemasters allowing candidates to make a smooth transition into the PADI IDC Program.
The PADI Instructor Development Course covers the entire mandatory PADI IDC Syllabus as well as a range of unique workshops designed and conducted by Holly. During the course candidates will take part in classroom, confined and open water sessions. Classroom sessions include Marketing, The 4 E’s Sales Workshop, Diver Retention, Diver Acquisition, the Business of Diving, and Risk Management. Classroom sessions will also include a series of PADI Standard and Procedures presentations discussing the requirements in relation to the individual PADI Programs. Candidates will also participate in a series of practice examinations in preparation for their Instructor Examination. Confined Water sessions are conducted in the swimming pool. During these sessions candidates will present their Confined Water Teaching Presentations, take part in DSD Workshops, Rescue Workshops, practice Rescue Exercise 7, learn about student positioning and control and practice the PADI Skills Circuit. During the Open Water Sessions candidates will present their Individual Open Water Presentation and take part in a variety of workshops including the CESA and Descents workshops, Student Control Workshops, Adventures in Diving Workshops and Rescue Workshops. There will also be further skill development sessions and Rescue Exercise 7 practice. Additional workshops on the program include a range of dive site management and student control workshops which gives candidates the knowledge and confidence to start their new career within the industry. Other workshops include the PADI online navigation workshops giving candidates a thorough insight into how to certify their own students and how to use the PADI website to get the required paperwork and material need for specific courses.
The program takes place every month at the only PADI 5 Star IDC Career Development Center in Gili Trawangan with world class training facilities and an in house multi award winning Platinum PADI Course Director.

Warning “Cheap alternative PADI IDC programs” | Go with the best | PADI IDC Gili Trawangan | Trawangan Dive

Recently we have noticed many dive operators and PADI Course Directors dropping their prices or offering special deals for the PADI IDC programs and in fact we have also received many requests for discounts. However our IDC Gili Islands program is already priced very reasonably for its immense value and the response would always have to be “You get what you pay for” with a recommendation to conduct further research and of course once people realize the extra benefits of our program combined with the fact that they’re not really saving a lot of money we often hear from them again.

Why the PADI IDC Gili Islands should be a prime choice!

Consider firstly the training facility; our facility is the first established PADI 5 Star IDC Career Development Center in the Gili Islands and in fact the entire Lombok area. We are one of the most popular choices for recreational dive courses in the whole of Indonesia and therefore have some of the most experienced PADI Instructors available. Once the IDC is finished and candidates have been officially certified they are welcome to stay on and team teach with our seasoned instructors allowing them to develop their own personal teaching styles and pick up some useful tips which are likely to stay with them throughout their career.

Another consideration is the PADI Course Director and if they are actually conducting the program. Many other facilities use a team of staff instructors to conduct large portions of the course and some even have Course Directors who live somewhere else and only visit simply to conduct the course, and then of course they’ve gone again. Our PADI Course Director Holly Macleod lives here in Gili Trawangan and works full time at Trawangan Dive. Holly conducts the entire IDC program, attends the Instructor Exam, teach all instructor specialties and is also available once the course is finished to assist candidates with team teaching, finding work or any other help they may need. Last year Holly’s PADI Status was reclassified to Platinum PADI Course Director sighting here commitment to training her IDC candidates. She was also awarded the PADI “Commitment to Instructor Development” award for her achievements in instructor development and her commitment to the PADI education system. This year she has once again been reclassified to “Elite” Platinum PADI Course Director which recognizes her pure experience in instructor training.

One other major factor to consider is the location itself. Gili Trawangan is a tiny island in comparison to Bali and is surrounded by turquoise blue water and palm swept white sandy beaches. The island has no cars, no dogs and no hassle so this removes all the problems associated with large traffic jams and rabid dogs. Our dive center is situated next one of the best beaches on the island and our boat leaves from directly outside the shop. Training sites are a stone’s throw away allowing minimum time getting to training sites and a minimum carbon footprint.

If you’re looking to become a PADI Scuba Instructor there is no better choice. The PADI IDC Indonesia runs every month on an 11 day schedule with an additional 4 days of pre IDC preparation. We can also be found through our PADI IDC Gili Islands Facebook Fan Page.

If you’re thinking about becoming a PADI Professional than the Gili Islands is the place to do it and the IDC Gili Islands can help you to get started with your new found career. The Gili Islands consist of three small islands situated of the north coast of Lombok, Indonesia. The largest of the three islands is Gili Trawangan and this is where it all happens. Most of the dive sites are situated on the shores of Gili Trawangan and this may also account for the reason that most of the larger, more established centers are based here. Gili Trawangan does have a reputation for nightlife and is often called the “Party Island” however most of the night spots are situated in one street leaving the rest of the island peaceful and quiet so I guess it could be said that in Gili Trawangan you get the best of both worlds.

One of the larger more established dive centers on the island is Trawangan Dive. Trawangan Dive is a Multi award winning dive center situated on the best stretch of beach the island has to offer and is also the longest established PADI Career Development Center in Lombok and the Gili Islands. Pimp Your IDC Gili Trawangan | PADI Career Development Center | Platinum Course Director

Choosing an IDC course has never been easier. As the only PADI Career Development Center in the Gili Islands and having a Platinum PADI Course Director we constantly monitor our training programs to ensure only the very best for potential Instructors to develop a successful and rewarding career in teaching recreational PADI Dive programs.

Our PADI Career Development Center is situated in Gili Trawangan, the largest of the three Gili Islands. The Islands offer a peaceful and relaxed island environment surrounded by palm trees and tropical fringing reef. The island has no motorized transport and no dogs, which only adds to the tropical island feel and of course all one needs to do is look at neighboring Bali with their bumper to bumper congestion problems and ridiculously high stray dog population. The dive center is one of the larger dive centers, not only in the Gili Islands but Indonesia as a whole having won awards for diver acquisition in 2013 and of course for our outstanding commitment to Instructor Development in 2014.

During 2013 we introduced a range of career enhancing programs such as our team teaching program whereby you will get to shadow our instructor and also those of another dive center within our group, ultimately team teaching within the 2 largest and best known dive operators in Indonesia and ultimately learning for some of the best instructors the industry has to offer. We also introduced our IDC Gili Trawangan Biorock Program, which combines the Instructor Development Corse with the Biorock Indonesia Program teaching students everything they need to know about coral reef gardening, maintenance and also building their own Biorock structure, installing it and providing the low voltage electrical current. We have also introduced our Komodo Livaboard IDC Internship Program which allows candidates to see first had exactly how a successful Livaboard operation runs. If you’re interested in any of our IDC Gili Trawangan CareerDevelopment Programs don’t hesitate to contact our Platinum rated PADI Course Director to discuss your personal options and decide how we can help you to develop the perfect career in recreational diving.

During the course of 2014 we have introduce some additional workshops and seminars. The IDC Gili Islands Post IDC Workshops include a new revised Open Water Diver Course Update which primarily prepares students for the addition of the Revised Open Water Course which will come into place later this year and possibly even later than this for Indonesia. The Project AWARE presentation is also an additional workshop we will be providing. The Project Aware workshop will basically present some facts, figures and achievements of Project Aware to the candidates so as one they are working within the industry they can act as a voice for the foundation and help to encourage people to get involved. We have also developed a range of C.V and employment workshops, which not only allows candidates to perfect the diving C.V, but also to find out about any local and international jobs that are available. Also if a candidate has found a potential job we can discuss any further training that may be required. For example if a candidate gets a job offer in the USA, Europe or Australia there will be a legal requirement that they have an oxygen provision certificate or if the candidate gets a job in a center that dives a 26 meter wreck it may be a requirement of the job to be able to provide the Nitrox Course or to teach the wreck specialty course.

If you’re interested in finding a real career in the recreational dive industry than you’re in the right place. The PADI IDC Gili Trawangan can help you to achieve your dreams and create a real career in diving. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Platinum PADI Course Director.

Becoming a PADI professional  teaches you about the PADI system and the procedures involved with recreational diving and the TDI technical diving courses are designed to give you a real understanding of diving, pushing your limits and allows you to expand your diving experience.

Of course a more natural progression after the Divemaster Course is the PADI Instructor Development Course, which allows you to start training and developing others to become better divers. The PADI IDC Indonesia offered here at Trawangan dive is one of the most comprehensive courses available. Our facility is the only PADI CDC Center in the Gili Islands and therefore offers professional dive programs to the highest possible standard. Our Instructor can be seen teaching all over the Gili Islands and beyond.

If you’re interested in finding out more about the GoTech Divemaster Course or the PADI Divemaster GoEco contact the Gili GoPro Team.

PADI IDC Gili Trawangan | the University of Professional Diving | Trawangan Dive

Trawangan Dive is not just a dive school, but could be considered more of a dive university. With the introduction of the PADI IDC Gili Trawangan Career Development Courses; Trawangan Dive provides the best possible start for PADI Divemasters and PADI Instructors.

As a PADI Career Development Center we have developed a range of IDC Career Programs aimed at enhancing the career opportunities of our PADI IDC candidates.

The PADI IDC Gili Trawangan Course prepares candidates to become PADI Instructors and teach the standard range of PADI programs. The PADI IDC course prepares candidates fully for life as a PADI professional and trains Instructors to level over and above that generally expected within industry, allowing new instructors to go into industry and confidently begin their career in teaching.

The Internship program where new instructors can shadow our extremely experienced instructor team leaning various methods and techniques involved in teaching the programs and picking up PADI certifications along the way.

The Komodo Livaboard Career option allows new instructors to complete their  Instructor Course at our PADI CDC Center in Gili Trawangan and then travel to Labuan Bajo where they will join our exclusive Livaboard and shadow the cruise director. During the program they will receive hands on experience of running a successful Livaboard operation, shadowing the cruise director learning all aspect of running the trip.

The Technical Diving program allows candidates to explore the world of technical diving whilst they still have the time to take courses, before working as a PADI Instructor. Once working Instructors may find the time to take dives, but taking a technical diving course requires time and therefor it’s a good time and place to do it.

The Specialties program allow instructors to gain more training in certain specialty areas of diving allowing to teach a wider range of programs and teach the courses of specific interest to them and of course earn more money as an Instructor.

A videography internship allows instructor to learn the process of developing and editing a full length underwater video. This gives instructors the opportunities to increase their skill set and make them more employable within industry.

There is a whole range of possibilities with the PADI IDCGili Trawangan allowing instructor to really develop their career in recreational diving and give them every chance possible to create a rewarding career. PADI IDC Indonesia | Continuing Education Programs for Instructors | Trawangan Dive

Once the PADI IDC Indonesia has finished there are a variety of options for PADI Instructors to continue their Education. Here at the Gili IDC Indonesia we run programs for the whole range of PADI Instructor Continuing Education Programs.

As well as conducting Specialty courses and the MSDT Preparation Course, we also provide staff instructor training and run the Master Instructor (Course Director Prep) Program. The most common question asked is “what do I need for each level?” The Gili IDC Indonesia is more than happy to help Instructors achieve the desired level of training through the PADI IDC Gili Trawangan Continuing Education Programs.

PADI Specialty Instructor Course

Specialty instructor courses provide valuable teaching tips for meeting the requirements of the course.
You can choose from any of the 27 standard specialty courses that PADI offers along with distinctive specialty courses your Course Director may offer.

There are three ways in which to gain your PADI Specialty Instructor certification.

1.       To write your own distinctive specialty

2.       Apply to PADI directly, having certified 25 or more divers, and having 20 experience dives in each particular specialty

3.       Take your specialty training with a PADI Course Director

Being a PADI Specialty Instructor allows you to teach a wider range of PADI programs and of course specialize in your own personal area of interest.

PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer Rating

Once an instructor has 5 specialties and have certified 25 students they can apply for the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer Rating (MSDT).

The Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating sets you apart from other dive instructors by showing your commitment to continuing your dive training and being prepared to help others continue their training as well.

PADI Staff Instructor

As a PADI Staff Instructor, you will be helping to develop the next generation of PADI Instructors while gaining an in-depth knowledge about instructor training. IDC Staff Instructors are an extremely important part of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC).

Many of dive center or resort management positions require this level of Instructor experience and training, making this an important step if you are considering a career in Dive Center management or you want to open a dive shop or resort.

PADI Master Instructor

To gain the PADI Master Instructor Rating you must be a renewed PADI Staff Instructor and Emergency First Response Instructor and have held your PADI Open Water Instructor Certification for at least two years.

You are required to have certified at least 150 PADI Divers; 50 of which need to be from the Adventure Diver Program or above, 15 specialty certifications, 5 recue divers, 5 PADI Divemasters and 5 PADI Assistant Instructors.

Within the required 150 certifications there must be no more than 75 certifications from the Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) Program, no more than 50 certifications from IDC Staffing, no more than 25 certifications from non-diving specialties and no more than 10 certifications from PADI/Master Seal Team registrations.

The PADI Master Instructor Rating requires you to have trained at least 10 students through the
Emergency First Response program and have attended at least three PADI seminars and to have no quality assurance violations within the previous 6 months.
