Three simple steps to a successful career with the PADI IDC Indonesia in the Gili Islands

The PADI IDC Instructor Development Course with Multi Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod provides all of the necessary ammunition to be a highly successfully scuba diving instructor. To be successful and gain top results during the program candidates need to adopt a simple strategy.
Look, Listen and Act

The Looking
During the Gili Islands PADI Instructor Development Program (IDC) workshops candidates will be exposed to a range of teaching techniques including control, management and organizational methods and it’s important to take note to allow candidates to gain additional marks in the Instructor Examination for delivery and control during their personal training presentations. This can also be adopted into their new career as scuba diving instructors and allow candidates to make a smooth transition into the industry with the confidence to succeed. It is also great to view the feedback received by others during the program, including mistakes, advice, improvements and attributes gained during previous Divemaster careers.
There are also many additional workshops added to the program by Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod, which are not directly assessed within the PADI Examination but certainly help when embarking on a new career within the diving industry and actually conducting the range of PADI programs.
So during the PADI Instructor Development Course it is important to observe all components of the course to pick up a wide teaching repertoire giving new instructors the tools to succeed in their new career.

The Listening
During the PADI Instructor Development Program it is also very important to listen. Holly delivers a range of presentations during her PADI IDC program and after certifying hundreds of instructor in 2015 alone knows exactly what is important for new instructors to know including points that may come up in the exam but also information that is required by today’s diving industry.

During the program Holly runs a range of dry workshops on conduct, delivery and student control and during these workshops she highlights the importance of effectively delivering core course components including in-depth methods of organization. Also how to position students for effective demonstrations in a way that students can first of all see what happening but can adequately demonstrate the skills back to you effectively and easily with minimum disruption to the organization; for example how to effectively move a student easily and quickly during a buddy skill without disrupting the organization and allow them to gain maximum experience. For alternate air sharing skills you will need to know how to rotate students to all have play the role of both air source donor and receiver. Where to position yourself and your certified assistant in relation to particular moving skills for example compass and swimming skills using the certified assistant for control and safety whilst positioning yourself in a position for skill evaluation. As well as gaining extra points during the Instructor Examination candidates will also get an insight on how to conduct programs more effectively in a safe and controlled manner.

Classroom presentations include a range of topics designed to provide candidates with the knowledge to succeed and progress within the industry. PADI Standards and Procedures is a classic example as candidates will learn all of the most important standards related to training which is important for the Instructor Examination and general teaching, but will also learn how to easily and effectively use the PADI Instructor Manual and Guide to Teaching so as they are able to keep up to date in the future and easily find and administer the required standard for any particular situation.
The Acting
Once candidates have observed how to conduct the PADI training activities and have listened to feedback and teaching tips during classroom sessions and workshops it’s time to combine this knowledge and put it into action. These two aspect of the training program offer candidates the chance to put it all together and add aspects of their own personality and experience of the dive industry to create a fantastic training experience to future students highlighting the pure fundamental intention of the program; to develop dive professionals.
During the program candidates are highly encouraged to develop their own personal teaching style allowing them to develop a very natural approach to the teaching environment; the best possible start to a career within the industry and preparing candidates to be ready to conduct their own training activities in a safe and controlled manner.
The Program designed by Multi Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod and has been developed is such a way as to allow candidates to get an educational experience that far exceeds that generally found within the recreational diving industry. The program is essentially split into two parts; a 4 day pre-IDC preparation program and the 12 day PADI Instructor Development Course.
The Pre-IDC preparation workshops are fundamentally designed to review, refine and develop the skills and knowledge required of certified professional Divemasters allowing candidates to make a smooth transition into the PADI IDC Program.
The PADI Instructor Development Course covers the entire mandatory PADI IDC Syllabus as well as a range of unique workshops designed and conducted by Holly. During the course candidates will take part in classroom, confined and open water sessions. Classroom sessions include Marketing, The 4 E’s Sales Workshop, Diver Retention, Diver Acquisition, the Business of Diving, and Risk Management. Classroom sessions will also include a series of PADI Standard and Procedures presentations discussing the requirements in relation to the individual PADI Programs. Candidates will also participate in a series of practice examinations in preparation for their Instructor Examination. Confined Water sessions are conducted in the swimming pool. During these sessions candidates will present their Confined Water Teaching Presentations, take part in DSD Workshops, Rescue Workshops, practice Rescue Exercise 7, learn about student positioning and control and practice the PADI Skills Circuit. During the Open Water Sessions candidates will present their Individual Open Water Presentation and take part in a variety of workshops including the CESA and Descents workshops, Student Control Workshops, Adventures in Diving Workshops and Rescue Workshops. There will also be further skill development sessions and Rescue Exercise 7 practice. Additional workshops on the program include a range of dive site management and student control workshops which gives candidates the knowledge and confidence to start their new career within the industry. Other workshops include the PADI online navigation workshops giving candidates a thorough insight into how to certify their own students and how to use the PADI website to get the required paperwork and material need for specific courses.
